OC and I have company. He’s a very considerate guest. Mostly he hangs out in the 15 ft. corner of the slanted ceiling. We hardly ever use that spot ourselves.

To all who linked to Oahu Dreams from their own blog — thank you. You have helped me raise my authority from 0 to 3. That is a lovely start and a long way to come in just a few days!

As most of you know I have started a new blog. It’s purpose is to, hopefully, become a revenue generator. In order to generate revenue it has to have some authority, and the only way to get authority is to have links. So, if you would please add Oahu Dreams to your blog links I [...]

I am the new pre-school teacher at Ma’ili Elementary School.
Pre-school.
Little gooey kids.
I believe there will be much learning in that classroom — by me!
Anticipated start date: October 9th.

Those of you who envy me Hawaii, enjoy this reality: there is a banana-sized flying cockroach behind my refrigerator. I swatted it out of the air last night and it scurried under the fridge. It just peeked out and looked at me. One of us will be dead before the end [...]

I’ve joined the crowd — those blogging “wannabes” who are hoping their blogs will make them rich … Yep. Me. You can find my purely commercial offering here: Oahu Paradise Vacation. Go take a look at my shameless commercialism … then give me any pointers you’ve got!

OC made light of the centipede episode, but I really didn’t take it all that lightly. We leave the windows wide open so the breeze can blow through the house — the standard in island air conditioning — and occasionally other things blow through as well. Last night it was a dead leaf [...]

You know, I love this island. I’ve been here almost a month — my car has been here almost a month — I drive it almost every day, and I have never once put gas in it. When I bring it home and park it, the gage often indicates that it is low [...]

I hate looking for work.
Want ads.
Resumes.
Job interviews.
Stress.
At home I sit at the table in the dining room staring at my computer screen, revising my resume just a bit for each new job posting. I research the business names, peruse websites, package myself for sale — and I stress.
On interviews I sit in straight chairs in [...]

Why?
I dunno!
I went to get my hair cut. OC went to the grocery store in the same shopping center. Well, turns out the beauty shop was really a barber shop, so I opted out on the hair cut and walked on down to the grocery store. I found OC picking [...]

OC and I frequently recycle the same conversation. Each time it has a slight variation. It always starts with my apparent curiosity. Today we were discussing maple syrup. The real stuff. OC is a New Englander, you know.
Me: [while pouring syrup on my waffle] My uncle called this, “tree [...]

This morning a NY Times article reports that many people are tired of 9/11 tributes. Enough has become too much. They want us all to just forget and move on. Yeah.
Tell that to the people in the twin towers; the people in the pentagon; and those on flight 93. Tell it [...]

Morgan wanted to know how close we are to the beach. Well ….
If you step on to the lanai and look right, you can see the sea.
Of course, you don’t have to look right (west). You could just look straight ahead (South).
Or you could look left, into the mango trees. No mangos [...]
