Most of our pre-K kids are language deficient. Our job is to get them to speak properly. Today I was gifted with three full sentences from three different kids. I should be celebrating, but …. I held up a green crayon this morning and asked Polk, “What color is this?” He responded. “Id isn’d red.” [...]

Cass had been the only girl in our class for a long time. About the same time I joined the classroom so did a young lady named Marisol. Cass and Marisol made instant friends. They walk to recess and to lunch together hand-in-hand. Today Cass and Marisol were walking together and talking away. Harold and [...]

In response to OC’s post, I did not provoke him. I am loving and sweet and kind. I don’t even know how to provoke. Honest. You believe me, don’t you?

Here in Makaha Valley, some of the neighbors are more colorful then others. I keep trying to coax these guys — oh, excuse me, the big one is a gal — home for dinner. O’Ceallaigh says they’re tough and I really won’t enjoy them.

OC is home. Northwest airlines kept him an hour longer than they were supposed to, but finally OC is home! He brought me a book –hardback — that I have been impatiently waiting for to come out in paperback. And a book on the ghosts of San Francisco, so if I go missing for awhile, [...]

I’ve come to the end of my first week as a pre-school teacher and some of you out there may be wondering how I did. So am I, especially since, when I come home exhausted, collapse on the couch and complain to OC about my day, he rolls on the floor laughing. I wonder why [...]

An itsy-bitsy spider which very much resembled a four year-old’s hand crawled across the lunch table and tickled me. A very large spider which very much resembled my hand crawled back toward the four year-old. The itsy-bitsy spider turned into an itsy-bitsy ninja warrior and flattened the very large spider. The very large spider died [...]
