Dead Computer

Quilly | September 30, 2008

It is a $10.00 part, but the computer repair folks (pick a company, any company) want to replace the entire motherboard — to the tune of three to five hundred dollars.  Don’t know when I’ll be up again.  I am currently stealing computer time whenever I get near an idle PC.
In the meantime, if anybody [...]

Exhaustion

Quilly | September 27, 2008

I am tired.
I am tired.  I am tired.  I am tired.
I will do punny Mondays.  I will post when I have energy.  I will be by to visit when/if I can.
I am tired.
I feel like a guest in my own home.  The only rooms I recognize are the bedrooms and the bathrooms.  It seems to [...]

Fishing Lesson

Quilly | September 22, 2008

This photo captures a little bit of the everything that makes up Oahu, Hawaii.  The traffic — too much of it.  Sky scrapers and cement buildings big and tall.  Green, green vegetation and expanses of blue water.
This is ocean water, even though the photo is of the Ala Wai Canal.  I spoke to the couple [...]

Bullet Flight

Quilly | September 20, 2008

What are the odds?  The same day I got the incredible dove photos (btw, Melli, OC tells me that there is no difference between my dove and your Rock Pidgeon except the name) I clicked a couple dozen shots of house sparrows.  For the most part when I attempt to photograph birds in flight they [...]

‘Auku’u

Quilly | September 17, 2008

Phonetically: Ah-oo-koo-oo
Or, if you prefer: Black Crowned Night Heron.
When trying to say ‘Auku’u, the first syllable /Au/ should be prounounced Ow (as in ouch) then oo, all blended together.  Think “kid whine,” OWoo!”   OWoo-koo-oo.  Congrats, you have a new Hawaiian word.
Btw, you’re going to want to click on this fella and make him bigger.

Mobile Home

Quilly | September 14, 2008

I am never too tired to stop and take a photo.  OC found this fella traveling the sidewalk about 11 p.m. one evening and called me outside. “Bring your camera,” he said, and any protest I might have made about tromping down three flights of stairs when I’d much rather crawl into bed disappated.  This [...]

Quilly | September 10, 2008

Robert from, Thoughts of a Father, is hosting, Show Me, his first photo project.  Rather than running with a theme for a week, Robert has a new photo request every day.  Today he wants to see our favorite view from anywhere in our home.

I am rather partial to the view from my dining room / [...]

Quilly | September 8, 2008

Robert from, Thoughts of a Father, is hosting, Show Me, his first photo project.  Rather than running with a theme for a week, Robert has a new photo request every day.  Today he wants to see our doors.   This is bring, but so am I when I’m low on sleep!
