There were several places we looked at that I really liked, which Amoeba nixed for one reason or another. Then we walked into this place -- a 40 year old home spotlessly clean and in immaculate repair. I hate the kitchen and tried to nix the house (though I love the yard and the windows), but Amoeba said this was it, and he pays the bills, so .... It only dawned on me later that he knew the landlords would be the kind to show up the instant there was a problem -- and they have been, and are very diligent about keeping the place in good repair.
