Susan — I am not in eminent peril of going hungry or being homeless. Amoeba takes good care of me. I just appreciate having my own money, a bit of independence and something to do. Gigi suggested I run around the island and enjoy my vacation soaking up Hawaii. That would be grand but it costs money! Since I am not making any money, even if we can afford it, I am reluctant to just pass it out too generously. There were too many years in my life when saving every penny was crucial to eating from payday to payday!

Love the e-mail rejection letter — if only it would work.

I can see why a place wouldn’t hire someone who is only going to be in town for a few months. Are there any temp agencies from which you could fill in for the time being? It seems like you said you checked out substitute teaching — which is a job that had never appealed to me though I know some who enjoy it.
