Rambler’s Way Wool
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Ramblers Way. All opinions are 100% mine.
You know our Hawaiian wardrobe isn’t going to translate well to Washington State. My slippers (flip-flops) are going to have to be replaced with real shoes. [gasp!] And Amoeba has said he wants long sleeved shirts and t-shirts for layering. With that thought in mind I have been doing some online shopping and Ramblers Way clothing looks like what we have in mind.
I love the shirt pictured here. This shirt has been worsted spun, creating a remarkably smooth, soft, and strong cloth. It is also beautiful.
Amoeba is especially interested in wool because even when wet (wet is a consideration in the Pacific Northwest) it will keep him warm and insulated. Plus, wool dries quickly. In addition to all that, wool is a very durable fiber. The shirts will maintain their crisp appearance through dozens of washings — and I won’t have to iron them!
I always thought wool was scratchy and uncomfortable, but Rambler’s Way woolens can’t possibly be — they even sell woolen under garments! Rambler’s Way uses Rambouillet wool, one of the best superfine wools available in America. The quality of their wool is so superior they offer free sample swatches to prove it.
I have always loved the versatility of wool. It can keep one hot or cool. It is durable, attractive and maintains it’s shape. What I haven’t loved about wool is the scratchy texture — but Rambler’s Way has done away with that. I believe we will soon be adding more wool to our wardrobes!
Listen to what Tom Chappell, the founder of Rambler’s Way, has to say about his own clothing:
I’ve always known wool was great insulation. I am thrilled that it is now against-the-skin comfortable, too. Hooray!

yeah, wool is scratchy. why don’t you try THEIR wool and let us know if it scratches or not. Hard to believe it doesn’t.
No, Gigi, all wool is not scratchy. I had a wonderfully soft sweater I loved and wore until it fell apart.
I was never into wool either. I must be allergic to it or something but it usually makes me itch too. I had to donate most of our winter clothing when we moved to Hawaii a year and a half ago.
Kay — if it is a minimally processed course wool, it will make anybody itch!
Your poooor little feet are not gonna know what hit ‘em! As for the wool, I have had wonderful wool sweaters that never itched me once! But I’ve also had even LINED wool coats that DID itch me horribly! I think it depends GREATLY on the quality of the wool. Some wool is really SOFT … almost like flannel!
Melli — exactly! I am seriously considering ordering Amoeba a couple of these, spendy though they are, because ultimately if he is warm and dry they are worth it.
