The World’s [Literally] Skinniest Latte Shop is on San Juan Island in beautiful downtown Friday Harbor, Washington. The shop is built i what used to be the alley between two buildings. It is an ingenious use of space.
Lisa came to visit from Nebraska so I drug her into this coffee shop and insisted she buy a drink. I had a pretty good mocha. Lisa ordered a Chlorophyll Cocktail. If you like kale, I mean really like kale, you would have loved this drink. Me, not so much.
The service was friendly. The shop is adorable. And the whole event excited me so much I walked out without paying and my guest had to pick up the bill! I am quite the hostess, don’t yu know. Pft.
Your sea bounty is so fascinating! I have never seen this before! And the coffeee shop must have been an amazing experience!!

Nessa — there is much fascinating to photograph here. The clear pictures are the result of steady hands and a truly great camera. And, I felt like a heel forgetting to pay but that girl was so sloooow my coffee was gone and forgotten about 15 minutes before Lisa ever got her drink!
I love wacky places like this! A Chlorophyll Cocktail just begs to be tried, with a name like that.

Susan — the Chlorophyll Cocktail was vile, but Lisa drank it. It was juiced kale, spinach, broccoli and lime juice — with a bit of wheat grass thrown in because it was the last thing to be juiced.
And the clam shell is sitting on a huge black bolder. Amoeba, who isn’t a geologist, is researching what it is, but has so far only managed to rule out a couple things it isn’t with only 5493 more to go …..
ROFL! I don’t think I would FIT in that Latte Shop! That is hysterical! GREAT idea though!

Melli — I fit. In fact, Lisa, I and the barista all fit. Amoeba then joined us. We were able to close the door behind him, but suddenly the place was waaaaay too small.

The shop looks a little claustrophobic for me, but a great use of space. I don’t think I could have drunk the chlorophyll cocktail, though.

Barbara — I tasted the Chlorophyll Cocktail and it took me a half hour to rid my mouth of the taste. I am certain it is every bit as healthy and good-for-you as can be, but that doesn’t mean it tastes good!
The shell shot is lovely.
I’m fascinated by the little shop. I can’t imagine working there all day! If I were to get coffee there, I’d probably shout my order in, rather than try to squeeze in!

Polona — you’d fit just fine. I fit. And, the ceiling is way high. Oh. Those baskets and shelves might irritate you a bit, but they aren’t on the customer side of the cash register. I thought that shell was a wonder myself.
Interesting macro shot. Clever idea to build a shop like that. I see the feeling that we wouldn’t fit in is almost univiersal…

Raven — I am claustrophobic and I was comfortable in the shop until 3 customers filled it. Then I wanted out.

Love the shell! Did you bring it home? The shop seems very unique – a resourceful owner with good use of space. You’ve made it famous.
As for my snowflake shot. It wasn’t that I really didn’t like it. For a first attempt I should be pleased. I just wanted one lonely perfect snowflake all by itself with great detail. It’s supposed to snow more tomorrow so maybe I’ll get some more practice.
Carletta — the shell was on a preserve, so the only thing I carried away were photographs and a little brown rock that lodged in the tred of my shoes.
