Up-To-Date

March 22, 2010

Since I am not working, I don’t ever seem to know what day it is — especially since my calendar was still hiding in one of the three remaining unpacked boxes.  Luckily I found it today!

I am calendar dependent.  I carry a pocket calendar in my purse and I keep a personalized desk calendar right here by my monitor. The desk calendar is just for quick glances when I need to know the date for a blog post, letter, or Avon order.

I use the calendar in my cell phone a lot, too.  Would you believe that when I was trying to decide which cell phone I wanted to purchase the second feature I checked out on every model was the calendar.  I not only want to see the date, I want to be able to add a message to it and an alarm.

However, all this obsessing over staying on time and I still don’t know whether I am coming or going — and I have to take the time every other day or so to synchronize my calendars.

Amoeba wants us to have a joint calendar and keep everything online.  I only use it for appointments.  I schedule my Avon stuff, meeting, etc. on my purse calendar and my book review stuff on the wall calendar beside my desk.  Once upon a time I used to be able to keep everything in my head and never forgot a thing.  Nowadays if I don’t write it down I’m lucky to remember my name.

I read a newspaper article recently that said lack of or less estrogen leads to short term memory loss in post-menopausal women. So that explains everything! LOL.

I write it all down… and then forget where I put it!
It took 2 months before I hung the 2010 calendar on the wall, because I rely so much on my Google calendar. Unfortunately, no one else in the house bothers to look at it…

I use my google calendar for everything and guess what it automatically pushes everything to my iPhone. And when I add something to the iPhone it automatically pushes to the Google Calendar. Same with email, contacts and all of that. And guess what, it’s not only the iPhone that it does it with. So Instead of writing things down, go online. Get to know Google. It’s the bomb!!!!

I need calendars to remind me of who am I and what I am doing… I have a bday calendar hanging in the bedroom, a desk calendar next to the pc with important memes and themes ;) , another one next to the phone with joint entries and doctor appointments, and my pocket calendar I always carry with me…oh, and one in the kitchen, too, with domestic affairs :)

I need a cell phone calender the most. It´s the best invention ever! It reminds me of everything important and I always have it with me. I would be lost without it!

I used to joke about keeping the post-it note companies in business because I posted little reminder notes to myself all over the house.

We have a calendar in the kitchen with big enough spaces to jot notes on to centralize all the family’s important dates, but my husband and older guys use their cell phones and PDAs for personal calendars, reminders, alarms, etc.

My oldest just made a personalized one for Grandma with family photos. She still can’t keep up with what day it is…but she likes the pictures. :)

  • I’m so talented I can miss things even when they are on the calendar!

Yea…. I used to always keep a wall calendar in the kitchen — and it WAS the family life-line. When I redecorated the kitchen, the wall phone AND the wall calendar got done away with! I’ve sort of been a lost little soul since then! Never know if I’m comin’ or goin… or what’s happening in the world! I NEED to remedy this!

  • I don’t have a calendar, but then I don’t do anything or go anywhere, so probably won’t bother — one day I’ll get organised! (or get a job… LOL)
