Fore!

July 29, 2010

Amoeba spied a golf course carved out of the lava landscape here in Kona.  He pointed out that the hazards of that golf course are seriously hazardous.  He said a high velocity swing gone awry there would send the ball into the lava and ricocheting wildly. I told him I thought that would add more interest and exercise to his game.  After hitting the ball he’d be dropping to the ground and covering his head with his hands.

Since Amoeba was less than enamored with that scenario, that seemed like the perfect opportunity for me to bring up the Myrtle Beach Golf packages I’ve been researching at http://www.myrtlebeachgolf.net.  I mean, after all, I have gone on all these business trips with Amoeba.  I had to suffer the seminar at Secret Cove in Halfmoon Bay, B.C., and now I am suffering through this bio-fuels symposium here in Hawaii.  I even went and dined on Ahi at a beach barbecue!  Given the sacrifices I make for his work a Myrtle Beach vacation doesn’t seem to much to ask, does it?

Why even this vacation would be mostly selfless.  Here I am looking into Myrtle Beach golf courses and I don’t even golf! The fact that we’d be staying in a luxurious 4 Star resort has nothing very little to do with my wanting this vacation.

Instead of agreeing with Myrtle Beach, Amoeba started talking about the next time we come to Hawaii.  Heavy sigh.  Yes, Hawaii is great, but I would like Amoeba to take a vacation with me.  That means we need to go somewhere his work isn’t.

I hear that Montana and North Dakota have nice golf course with four star or less living arangements. You could even run on down to Nebraska to see your friend there while Amoeba plays some of the very nice courses there.

My cousin lives in Sturgis, South Dakota. That is a nice place. It is in the Black Hills and near the Mt. Rushmore National Park. You would like exploring that area while Amoeba plays golf. Just don’t come when the motorcyclists are in town for their big rally. :)

If you have your mind made up for a golf vacation on the Atlantic Ocean, you should try the Sawgrass Marriott in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

The PGA’s Player’s Championship is held there every year.

And being that it’s so close to St. Augustine and Jacksonville, there’s plenty to do. Maybe we could go out to dinner one night. I’ll even pick you and the Amoeba up from the airport and drive you to the resort at no charge.

Sounds like Amoeba will need some more enticing, before he makes up his mind…. :)
    Hope he comes around.
