Perhaps Too Secure …

October 18, 2010

She drove him to the airport and watched as his plane flew away.  Two weeks without him.  She knew the days would be far too long. She drove home to begin waiting ….

Her phone rang. It was him!  It was him!  She answered, “Hello, my love!”

He said, “Hello.  I am here.  The flight was uneventful.”

She said, “Are you still at the airport?”

He said.  “No. I am in the hotel already.  Safe.”

She said, “What!?”

He repeated, “I am in the hotel, safe.”

She said, “You’re kidding?  How did you get in there?  That isn’t very comfortable is it?”

He laughed. “You know, now that you mention it, it is kind of cramped.”

She said, “Do you miss me yet?”

He said, “I called, didn’t I?”

~*~

Right now he is safely in Seattle, or in a Seattle safe — one or the other.  Tomorrow morning he will jet off to Hawaii.

She already misses him, too.
