MacDonald is an engaging writer.  He uses personal accounts, anecdotes, and scripture to reveal the promise of God’s five greatest promises to us.  This is not just a book to read, but a book to study and commit to heart.  Many of us, myself included, can quote God’s promises:

  1. God is always with me.
  2. God is always in control.
  3. God is always good.
  4. God is always watching.
  5. God is always victorious.

But not many of us know what those promises actually mean to us or how to apply them in our day-to-day lives.  Always True: God’s 5 Promises for When Life is Hard examines the 5 promises of God, what they mean to those of us in a relationship with God, and how we can strengthen our faith walk by claiming those promises as our own.  I highly recommend this book as an an aid to spiritual growth.

    Well, Quilly [hi, :)], I hate to have to be first up here. But it is time to get busy here,10:34 AM, where I am. This sounds like a nice book. I am not familiar with the author or his radio program.

    I am familiar with the church where he pastors. One of his members four years ago (the 2007 time) gave a week of his time helping improve the electricall wiring in a state orphanage in Guatamala. Since he was self employed there was no vacation week paycheck waiting for him when he returned like the most of us who worked for the man or who were retired like Mrs. Jim and me.

    I was one of his ‘helpers’ Before we came the dorms did not have enough light to read in after dark. Fortunately for productivity most of my time was spent painting as being in an electrical helper role was not really my calling.

    Thank you, Quilly. I am glad that you got lots of sleep and I hope you are feeling better. I have been really worried about you having the flu. Depending on which strain it can be a killer. My Grandmother Corkill died of the flu in 1917.

    I appreciate your giving me this book by Dr. MacDonald very much. I showed your review post to Mrs. Jim, and she said, yes, she would read it also. I am the slowest in the world about reading books so she is liable to read it first. We will give feedback.
