Almost a Video

I am unhappy.  I have spent all day trying to upload a video.  Our “high speed” internet is high all right — high priced, but NOT high speed.  I spent 2.5 hours uploading a video only to have it fail — connection dropped — in the last 20 minutes.  And that happened not once, but twice.  The third time I was not told the connection failed.  I was told my endeavor was a success — BUT over half of the video is missing.  All together I spent about 7 hours to get one minute and thirty seconds worth of video for my blog.

Here is part of Watermelon Man, played by The One More Time band at the Rumor Mill in Friday Harbor, WA.  Be prepared for the video to suddenly end in the middle of Amoeba’s trumpet solo with the  plunger mute.

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. Quilly, even when it played, the audio and video were not synched. I’m only telling you this in case you are pursuing a technical solution. Sorry this is so frustrating — I totally understand!

On the other hand, what is there is good!

  2. I call it Blog Smog…this morning I tried to get to your blog three times…kept getting the msg that you didn’t exist…yaaa right. Some days I give up, some days I don’t 😉
When I finally got to see the video it made me want to jump on a ferry, grab a couple of friends and head on down to the Rumor Mill…one of these days!

  3. That’s frustrating. Does it help any to go through YouTube or Vimeo? (Vimeo is slower than YT but I like it because it is less “public.” WP won’t let me upload a video directly on my free blog unless I pay for an upgrade, so I use one of those two). Or does it do that with any video upload?

The trumpet was the best part. 🙂

  4. I really enjoyed the portion that we could see!

I recommend YouTube for video uploads to embed in your blog. I’ve had really good luck with it, only one failure. Also, there are three options to select from with Public being the one that’s wide open for all to view. I restrict viewing my videos to those who have the link, which they get by clicking on it while on my blog. On the upload screen, it’s the middle of the three options.

  5. Thanks for sharing Quilly, Glad that you got some of it uploaded. Isn’t this the same music that is the Odd Couple where Felix wrenches his neck in the Go Go Bar at the beginning of the movie?

    No Punny Monday??
