I’m Going Broke!

September 10, 2011

This post brought to you by TracFone. All opinions are 100% mine.

My monthly cell phone bill is outrageous.  Every time I look at it I wish I’d gone with TracFone!  Amoeba and I recently spent several days in Canada.  We were thrilled to discover that our favorite campground now has wifi.  Our cell phone calling plan advertises the entire North American continent as our calling coverage.  What it doesn’t advertise is that our text and data use isn’t covered.  We wouldn’t have had that problem with TracFone, all charges are clearly defined so users get no nasty, end-of-the-month surprises.

Not only that, with TracFone we can give our Canadian friends a local — Canadian– number which they can use to call our cell phone without incurring their own long distance charges.  You can also get local numbers for Mexico!  That is a great service for people who have family across either border.  They can call each other without worrying about long distance fees and surcharges.

I have been talking to Real TracFone customers about their nation-wide coverage — it really is nation-wide!  Taylor swears he’s never experienced a dropped call anywhere on this island. That’s because TracFone contracts with ALL the major carriers so they have truly the best nation-wide coverage available!  With my current provider I have spots in my own backyard where my cell phone doesn’t work!  Plus every call Taylor makes, national, international or roaming, costs the same amount! He pays one, clear, per minute fee, period.

Not only that, the new TracFones have So many features that I wouldn’t have to give up any of my favorite high-end cell phone perks.   I love my touch screen phone and TracFone has several to choose from.  Amoeba loves his slide phone with it’s full QWERTY keyboard and TracFone has a variety of those as well.  And — a feature Amoeba wouldn’t be without — Bluetooth® Wireless Technology.

Of course, there’s the “you’ve got to buy your minutes” complaint one hears so much with pay-as-you-go phones, but TracFone can be activated for a year at a time (no paying for  a new number if you don’t replenish your minutes right away), many of the phones came with double minutes for life which means if you pay for 60 minutes you get 120.  A few select phones come with triple minutes for life!  Plus there are a variety of plans to choose from and you can change from one to the other anytime you please without paying fees and penalties!

I rarely use my cell phone at home.  I could pay for the least expensive plan while on-island (which would still provide me with more minutes, texting & data per month than my current provider does) and, if need be when we travel I could upgrade to the unlimited minutes, texting & data for only $50.00 for the month (which is $30.00 cheaper than my current provider who severely limits my monthly texting & data).  Of course, I don’t have to take a monthly plan at all.  I could just opt for “pay-as-you-go” and only buy minutes when I need them.  TracFone plans are fully customizable!

TracPhone is the least expensive way to own and use a cell phone in America.  You can buy a phone for just $9.99 preloaded with 200 minutes and eligible for double minutes for the life of your phone — for under $30.00.

My next phone will be a TracFone.  Amoeba and I could BOTH have the cell phones we love at less than a third of the price we’re paying now.   These phones include Bluetooth® technology, cameras, photo messaging, mp3 players, touch screens and more! A family of five could get TracFones, each with 200 minutes per month, for what Amoeba and I pay now for ONE of our phones.

I think we have another system and mobile calls from and to another country are very expensive. When I am abroad and somebody calls me, I have to pay, the person who calls me only pays the fees for Belgium. So when I am abroad I use Skype to call mobile and telephone numbers. That works very well and is very cheap.
    It’s a long time I haven’t been here, I just notice !

  • we have magic jack, skype and a phone where you buy 100.00 dollars worth of minutes and then each year add a few dollars. Its good for emergencies.

Good luck with the cell phones. Good to see you back. I’m curious to hear about magic jack. I keep meaning to ask my sister’s children if they know anything about it.

This TracFone offer seems to be profitable to me as well. 200 minutes free time is attractive and overall price is very competitive. Thanks for bringing us such offers.

  • If we hadn’t been stuck in a contract with a company that begins with A and ends with a double leTTer, I probably would have gone with TracFone. Our bill has been messed up for the past 3 months, ever since we added my husband and 2 more kids.

    More importantly, HELLO!!!
