On Vacation in Kailua-Kona

December 4, 2011

Amoeba and the Quill are in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island. He gets to work everyday in a laboratory with his algae specimens and a microscope. She is having to enjoy the beaches, shoreline drives, and beautiful scenery. I know it seems unfair, but she is making do.

They went out to dinner the other night and walked back to the condo together along Ali’i Drive. She took a couple of photos of the sunset.

Yep, the snapshots are awesome! Bet you’re enjoying the warm weather, too….enjoy!

  • Lucky you! And I imagine that Amoeba isn’t having that bad of a time, either. ;)

I’m glad that you got to go with him this time. And the photos? Really amazing. The colors are so rich, like warm caramel. How did NaNoWriMo? I’ve been thinking about you.

Great Photos! It looks quite nice there, though I can’t imagine this time of year without cold and snow haha!!! Have fun!

Today we drove around the island to Hilo. The drive itself was incredible, we went from the leeward side of the island to the windward side of the island, so we watched the vegetation change from incredible to wild and wonderful. Once on the windward (rainy) side of the island, we visited a botanical garden and immersed ourselves in beauty. Yes, I have photos. I can’t post them just yet, my card reader quit. IT must have been overwhelmed by the beauty.

  • So sorry you’re suffering in December. :-) Gorgeous pics. Probably just a tad different from the weather up Washington way, huh?!

Enjoy, Quilly. :) I know you will. You make me want to go back. Have stayed both in Hilo and the Kona resort area.

Also we stayed six days and seven nights at the Mauna Kea State Recreation Area park. I would run (jog) along the ocean frontage road in the mornings.

You can ski on Mauna Kea when it snows! They do most every year (or did at least before our global warming approaches).
