The Well House
For those of you who follow, The Grownups Wanted Us Dead, a new post is up. Oh, and even though there’s water there, you’ll definately want to have a drink before heading to: The Well House.
Excerpt:
The well on my Uncle’s farm was not the standard rock-walled, shake-roofed, cute-little-bucket type well. It was a hole in the ground. A very deep hole filled to the brim with shimmering water and adorable little frogs …..

To my family: This well was not located on the Mica Flats farm, but behind the crumbling Victorian house clinging to the hillside above Smelterville.
I’ve just been by to read the story. Thanks for sharing I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Blessed Sunday to you.
Wonderful, wonderful story! I liked wonder Barbie too. My girls never understood the magic of Barbie, how she could take ordinary things like towels and shoe boxes and turn them into couchs and race cars.
Great story, CB. I was remembering the well on Gram and Grandpa’s old farm.
Gram always told the story about (either Caryl or me, can’t remember which one of us) going to the well with Grandpa when we were very young. Whomever it was came running back, so excited, and told her that “Grandpa pulled a squirrdel from the weddel with a paydel”
Bill, I’m glad you liked the story — especially since you had to wait so long to hear it! I promised it to you a month ago!
Kat I transformed a bookcase into a 3 story Barbie house. I made her closet out of an old cigar box. Her chairs were cut down milk cartons padded in Kleenex and upholstered in sewing scraps. It was wonderful.
Jackie, Caryl left a note on the other blog saying she thought it was you! No matter who it was, it does sound like the way we all talk when we get excited.
nice work! keep it up!
ROLF That was so funny!! 🙂

Sorry I was unable to open your story. I will try again. My grandfather did have the cute well with the barrel. One summer vacation it was our job to build that well cover, to prevent any accidental occurances! Have a wonderful day.
That was great story until the end. Then it seemed like one long joke to get to the punch line.
Dr. John my life often seems like one long joke to get to the punchline.
Reading your stories makes me laugh til I cry- I can remember so many similar things in my own childhood.–>
