Presents in the Mail
My aunt mailed me my grandmother’s salt and pepper shakers. I learned to cook using these. And my sister, Jackie, sent me this wonderful book mark “just because” according to the card that came with.

Don’t let Diane see those, she has a *collection*. It’s nice to have stuff that connects you to your heritage.
Brian — Diane has plenty. These are mine!
Sweet!
Charlie — sweeter than you know. I have been asking for something of Gram’s for 19 years.

I’m glad you got Gram’s S/P shakers!
Made you the bookmark with dragons, ’cause I thought you collected them? Could send you something else if you like – have lots of different charms/beads. This is what I’ve been doing when it’s too cold out and I get bored!
I love that so much. One of my cousins got two handkerchiefs my grams stitched on…I have been hinting for years now to get one! I hope she´ll take the bait eventually.
I am happy for you!
Jackie — I did once have a dragon collection. I no longer do, but I still like dragons and I love this book thong. I plan on writing you an approriate thank you note after work.
Minka — My Gram raised me. When she died I took nothing from her house. For 19 years now I have regreted that. Now I have her salt shakers.
I love things that have memories and histories.
The bookmark is very cool.
Glad that you got something from your grandmothers that has meaning to you. It is nice to get a present in the mail.
Nessa — I love memories and histories, too. And the bookmark is very cool — so is the sister who made it!
Dr. John — it did make my day!
I love presents like that! I have my mother’s teapot that is shaped like a squirrel. Ugliest damn thing you’ve ever seen, but I have only a fist full of good memories of my biological mother and one of them is a tea party using this pot.
Hi Quill
It is always nice to get a surprise in the mail. Especially more so when it is an attachment to a past with special memories.
A wonderful day is wished for you.
I think it is cook you have the salt and pepper shakers. It is funny what we remember from our relatives.
Kat — I spent a lot of time with Gram in the kitchen. Often I just sat on the stool by the fridge and talked to her while she worked.
Bill — yes. This was an extra special treat.
Lori — my Gram raised me, so most of my childhood memories feature her.
Those were some wonderful surprises in the mail. And believe it or not, I do vaguely remember those salt and pepper shakers. The bookmark my mama made for you is great. What I want to know is why she hasn’t sent me one yet… I love you.
Brooke — maybe your momma was worried about me this weekend and thought I might need cheering up. Luckily, she was wrong. But I still love the bookmark and I’m keeping it!
You’re my second friend that got “just because” this week! I LOVE “just because”!!! It doesn’t matter which side of it you’re on, it’s FUN! That is soooooo cool! And nice to have those shakers too!
Melli — my sisters spoil me. It is good to be loved.
