Sky Watch

Just a bit of blue …. This week the skies have been cloudy and gray. Makaha has had much rain and our usually barren rock ridges are covered in greenery. But one day sunshine and blue sky made a brief appearance, and I took this photo of these nascent Shower Tree buds.

SKY WATCH comes to us via Wigger’s World,
in the United Kingdom.
Thanks, Tom!

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. The blue really complements the color of the flowers. My contribution is a solar halo. I invite you to come see. — Margy

  2. Beautiful picture! I love the branch with the buds and flowers; however, I did have to look up to see if it was a “nascent shower tree” or if nascent was just a word I thought I knew, but wasn’t sure. It turns out to be a big word for begining to exist….thanks for the new word…I like it. Wasn’t sure if there was a new species of tree or what.

Enjoy the clear skies….they are very beautiful, too. We’ve been getting overnight rain showers…I prefer the ones I can keep an eye on, though. I like to get the most out of my rain….we don’t get it often enough.

  3. Thank you for being a part of Sky Watch this week, your post and comments are much appreciated.
    Tom ;O)

    A delightful shot

  4. I love the buds otherwise the blue would be a little boring although I prefer a blue sky to a grey one by far ! lol

  5. The picture is wonderful. But your words have me perplexed. My image of Hawaii is prefect weather everyday. You are contradicting my imaginary perception of your wonderful state. Stop that! 🙂

  6. Margy — welcome to Sky Watch and my blog. I loved the solar halo.

    Sharon — thank you & you’re welcome.

Melli — but when I showed that same branch on the whole tree, you made disparaging remarks!

Amber — I love to teach vocab, so get used to visiting the dictionary.

Dr. John — and not the first I’ve shown on this blog!

    Tom — thanks.

    Carletta — thanks.

Peppylady, I live in Hawaii, but I will always be an Idahoan.

    Andrea — thank you.

Gattina — blue skies smiling on me …. this week it was mostly gray skies spitting on me!

Robert — this is the Rainbow State. What do you think causes all those rainbows, hmmmmm?
