2008 Liar’s Contest

Pigeon Falls, the Little Town in Dr. John’s basement, just held its annual Liar’s Club contest, and I — as well as all the other contestants — won the coveted, Writer’s Choice Award. It seems that every writer voted for another, so we each got one vote. Amazing.

July 30th, 2008 — Melli tells me I have to add this update: As well as a winner’s choice award, there was a panel of judges. My story was selected as the winner by four of the seven judges and I was gifted with this award, a plaque and a $10.00 gift certificate. When the plauque and the gift certificate arrive in the mail you shall hear from me again.

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

    not because i know you, but yours was the most original and amusing story.

    i read them all and a few had a very promising (great even) start, but didn’t carry momentum to the end…

  5. Bill — I didn’t think my story was the best, either.

    Melli — actually, Dr. John didn’t send me that award so I wasn’t 100% certain. He sent it today.

    Polona — why thank you! I thought Bree’s story was quite good. She’d have likely won in a competition with writer’s her own age. And I wondered if the demon story might have made a better showing with a panel of judges from some venue other than church?

    Brian — did you in Bill get together and plan your comments to keep my ego from getting out of hand?
