Show Me!

Robert from, Thoughts of a Father, is hosting, Show Me, his first photo project.  Rather than running with a theme for a week, Robert has a new photo request every day.  Today he wants to see me!

My schedule:

Monday — alarm rings at 4:45 a.m., I am ready for work and out the door by 5:30 and at work by 8:00.  I get off work at five do the crosstown crawl to OC’s office where we eat whatever I picked up for dinner.  We go to his Oahu Civic Orchestra rehearsal where he musics and I take photographs, write or just listen (I learned that I do have access to internet at Chamade University, where the rehearsal is held).  At 9:00 p.m. band rehearsal is over and we drive home.  Since night has slightly less traffic than day, we usually get to the condo by 10:30 p.m.

Tuesday — the same, except OC’s rehearsal is for the Honolulu Commuity Concert Band and there is no internet while I wait.  This past Tuesday night there was a horrific accident on the fhighway and we didn’t get in until almost mid-night.

Wednesday — I pick OC up after work and we start home.  Depending on “rush” hour traffic, the return home can take up to three hours.  Sometimes when we get home I cook, sometimes we stop for a sit-down meal (as opposed to take-out food eaten off styrofoam or wax paper at OC’s desk), the volume of traffic decides which we do.

Thursday  — Jazz Band practice ends at 8:30 p.m. rather than 9:00 o’clock, and there is no internet while I wait.  We’re usually home by 10:00 p.m.

Friday — looks like Wednesday, though we sometimes stop for a bit of weekend grocery shopping on the way home.

Saturdays — crash and burn.

Sunday — church and prep for the week ahead.

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. I am amazed that you actually get to blog at all. What a schedule. Sitting in traffic takes up a lot of your time!

Great shot – the take on it is different.

  2. Quilly ~ With all that is on your schedule you still found time to post some wonderful pictures. My schedule is hectic but not as hectic as yours. And I still am burned out and don’t post like I used to.

A Blessed Weekend is wished for you and OC

  3. Am I happy that I don’t work anymore ! When I think how my days were in the past I admire myself and wonder how I could handle all that !
Your selfportrait is more the one of your camera, lol !

  4. Yes, I’ve been horribly delinquent. The first week and a half back in the classroom HAS wiped me out. This was probably the worst time for me to do my first photo project. So forgive me for not checking in sooner. I’m so glad you enjoyed doing this even with this crazy schedule. I had thoughts of doing the very same thing but decided to try out my new studio lights instead. Get some rest! Thanks again for all your contributions. 🙂

  5. You have gotten so busy. I’m sure you are liking working again…I guess. And I guess the Nikon is/has become such a part of you these days after so many challenges/memes that need pictures.

We finally got the new computer going and the old one updated so I can put a virus scanner on it to make sure the stuff is ok to put on the new computer. I’m OCD about computer suff.

Got new drapes ordered, and just got home from dinner with my daughter that had to flee that Ike. Their house seems to be ok from what they have heard.

Take very good care of you, sweetie. I love reading your blog and do not want anything to happen to you or OC. I like his blog so much, too. 🙂

  6. With that busy schedule I too wonder how you find time to blog, post beautiful pictures, and comment!
    Nice to see you 🙂

  7. Carletta — OC has been going at this pace for a year. The man is amazing.

Dr. John — and to underscore the burn part of crash and burn, guess what I did to our toasted cheese sandwiches?

Cath — OC drives. I sleep through the commute.

Karen — only one day per week.

Brig — thanks. I hope you don’t mind if I nod off on your shoulder.

Bill — my posts were pretty well slapped together. I need to aim for fewer posts of better quality.

Doug — not through the view finder, but since I was looking in the mirror, it didn’t matter!

Andrew — Next time they play I’ll see if I can’t catch some video.

Gattina — my camera is prettier than I.

Robert — I know the drill. Since I’m not teaching this year I am kind of missing it.

Amber — I’ll probably be posting less, but I’ll visit when I can.

Mar — my comments have been in short supply the past couple of weeks!

Anndi — yep. That’s why Saturdays are crash and burn.

Bazza — that is me hiding behind the camera. Behind the camera is one of my favorite places.

Kat — I am getting more writing done, since that’s my occupation while OC practices with his bands.

  8. That is one crazy schedule, sounds like ours when we were still farming – be sure you get enough rest, hmmm… maybe some vitamins? I’m amazed that you’ve had a chance to post! Wow.
    Take care

  9. I’m so surprised you have the energy you do!! Care to share your secret?? Geritol? Special vitamins??? Come on, Quilly…fess up to your fellow (old!) blogger friends!!
