A Meme by Me!

My Aunt sent me this sometime back and I jammed it in my “blog ideas” folder, and now, when I find myself without any clue what to post, I’ve dug it back out. Suffer through — but I promise not to tag you!

1. What is your occupation right now? Client Liason

2. What color are your socks right now? Socks?  This is Hawaii.  Socks are against the law, aren’t they?

3. What are you listening to right now? Rain on the tin carport roof.

4. What was the last thing that you ate? Hamburger Stew & French Bread

5. Can you drive a stick shift? Yes, but I haven’t in 20 years and would just as soon keep it that way.

6. Last person you spoke to on the phone? My loving Amoeba.

7. Do you like the person who sent this to you? Yes, she’s my Aunt.

8. How old are you today? 49

9. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV? I rarely watch TV, when I do, sports aren’t my venue of choice.

10. What is your favorite drink? Diet Pepsi

11. Have you ever dyed your hair? Are you kidding? I am not certain what my natural color is!

12. Favorite food? Chicken just about anyway you want to cook it.

13. What is the last movie you watched? Robinhood, Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner.

14. Favorite day of the year? Which year?

  • 2006 — the Day Amoeba and I first exchanged email
  • 2007 — July 1st, the day my life with Amoeba started for real
  • 2008 — the final work day of the school year
  • 2009 — Who knows? The year is still young

15. How do you vent anger? It really depends on who made me angry and how angry I am.  I’m not a fly-off-the-handle sort of person.  Generally, I deal with my own emotion first, why am angry?  Is my anger legit?  Did the other person intend to make me angry?  And I move forward from there.  If I have a grip on my emotions, then I say, “Let’s talk …”  If I am angry at some jerk who cut me off in traffic, I say all the requisite nasty things and go on with my day.

16. What was your favorite toy as a child? Probably my bike.  Maybe my rollerskates.  Could have been my stilts.

17. What is your favorite season? Spring — fresh green.  Summer — hot and sunny!

18. Cherries or Blueberries? Huckleberries, please.

19. Do you want your friends to e-mail you back? No, blog posting will do, and then only if they wish.

20. Who is the most likely to respond? Melli or Dr. John because they love their memes!

21. Who is least likely to respond? Everybody.  This meme is a bit tired and worn.

22. Living arrangements? My love and I share a two bedroom, two bath house in lovely valley named Kuli’ou’ou, on Oahu, in Hawaii.

23. When was the last time you cried? Today over somebody’s sentimental blog post.

24. What is on the floor of your closet? shoes, a box, a package of DVDs and the vacuum cleaner.

25. What did you do last night? Went to Outback for dinner with Amoeba O’Ceallaigh.

26. What are you most afraid of? Failure.

27. Favorite day of the week? Saturday.

28. How many states have you lived in? Idaho, Washington, California, Montana, Oregon, Nevada and Hawaii — 7.

29. Diamonds or pearls? Emeralds or Rubies.

30. What is your favorite flower? Daisies!  Any kind.  Any color.  I love daisies!

  1. That is even worse than an interview of a famous star ! and I laughed so much that my cats thought I was crazy because of you answer to N° 1 “Occupation” : client liason ! In french that means that you have a secret love affair with your clients ! (How many ? not to be indiscrete ?)
    I too love spring !

  2. Mar — it;s mostly true, though I suspect my natural hair color leans heavily toward gray.

Gattina — in English it means “glorified go-fer”, but I am pleased to have made you laugh.

  3. I LOVE when you do these things! I laughed like Gattina over number 1 – but not because of her definition – but because of how “liason” has replaced “clerk” – sounding more UPSCALE! In my younger days I was a telecommunications clerk — today I would be a telecommunications liason. When Amanda went to work for Verizon her job title included liason. When she went to work for the medical outfit her title included liason, and when she applied for the job with the bank, the title she would have gotten would have included liason! Do you get more MONEY for being a liason? No. But it sounds better! 🙂

I LOVE rain on a tin roof! I’m jealous!

The big question with anger is … do you vent differently now than you did when you were younger. I used to be a REAL fly of the handle person when I was young. These days it takes an act of massive stupidity or injustice to make me angry.

  4. I don’t know how this meme is more tired and worn than memes generally. You always write them well, though.

  5. What’s a meme? Just kidding. Why would I know that if it asked Cherries or Blueberries you wouldn’t pick either. No 2 is the bomb

  6. I’ve never really thought of you as being a certain age Quilly, but I have to say I’m chuffed to know I’m younger than you, even though it’s not by much!

  7. Thanks Melli for the explanation of liason, now I understand what a “glorified go-fer” stands for!!
I like reading memes and I don’t mind doing them either. Most of them are fun to do, even if it has been around a little while longer, it’s always fun to get to know the author a little better.

  8. Oh man! I was just reading Gattina’s response about liason and realized that maybe when I spoke to a delegation from Vietnam about my job duties…that being the liason for the volunteers, that they may have thought it was an affair with all of them…no wonder they acted impressed! LOL My job was liason between the volunteers and the police department.

  9. Socks – Hawaii – that was a good one.
Hamburger stew – not since Girl Scouts, but thanks for the reminder.
Diet Pepsi? I thought you were a Pepper?

  10. I loved your meme…..don’t like doing them myself….but love reading those written by others, especially those I love like you!! XOOXOXO will miss P Mon. as have to get to bed now. Appt. with homewrecker in the morn. early.

  11. Melli — you know, that anger question doesn’t pertain to one of my sisters. She can make me sizzle faster than a drop of water in a red hot skillet.

As to the rest, my marriage taught me a lot about the damage uncontrolled anger can do. My ex- was nasty mean in the things he would say in anger. I watched him and learned to hold my tongue. Working with children has helped, too. Getting angry or impatient with a child often shuts them down, just when one needs them to be open and listening.

Doug — when I’m in the mood.

Thom — if were wore socks in HAwaii at the end of the day they would make good bomb material, wouldn’t they? Whew!

    Nessa — pretty, pretty, sparklies!

Bazza — my body is 49. My mind is much younger. MUCH younger.

Juliana — read my comment to Melli. In truth though, I actually behave worse when I am frustrated than I do when I am angry.

Jientje — I usually enjoy reading other people’s memes more than I enjoy writing them myself.

Amber — you hussy you! LOL! Did any of them ask you for your number? 😉

Dr. John — enjoy! I am looking forward to reading your answers.

Zerilda — we get a vertible concert — rain on the tin roof, the tile roof, the glass windows, the pavement — because of course it is a warm rain and all the windows are open. My house is full of crisp, fresh air with a tang of salt and tangerine. No need for room fresheners. The outside does real fine.

Andrew — I loves me some daisies, I do!

Carletta — Hamburger stew was a staple in our house when I was growing up, and for some reason rainy days always make me want to stir up a pot. I usually give in and make one once or twice a year. I serve it with crusty hot French Bread and big chunks of Cheddar cheese.

Caryl — homewrecker? Now I am curious. Lucky for you I want you to get your sleep, because I was way tempted to call.

  12. The comments are as fun as the meme. 🙂 I’ve seen some of these questions on various memes but not others.

I’m only a couple of years older than you! I don’t honestly think I could stand rain on a tin roof — I seem to have gotten oversensitive to some kinds of sounds in my old — make that middle age. Maybe I’d get used to it. I love the idea of crisp air from open windows — in my teens we lived in one house on a hill where we could get a good cross breeze going if we left the windows opened. I loved it. But now with allergies within and bugs and humidity without, I depend a lot on my AC.

  13. from the pusher of buttons……sorry, it isn’t on purpose!! Just wanting to caretake the youngins!!
the homewrecker making all the noise is the young man that is drywalling my closet after having torn it apart in search of a musky moldy awful smell………..and I was a wake for a change..u could have called……had to let the young man in at the crack of dawn.
