Bloggerversary!

On June 1st, 2006 I penned my first post.  It was a pretty anticlimactic beginning.  I had spent days choosing the template and thinking wondrous thoughts and anticipating my June 1 starting date — and when the time came, I had nothing to say.  (I know some of you are boggled by that thought.)

My first post:

My Own Blog

Today I decided I would start my own blog. All week long while thinking about this I had a dozen or so witty things to say. Now here I am and my mind is blank. Blank. Blank. Blank. Sigh. These are the things that make up the typical days in my life.

The comments:

YAY! Hopefully another helpless blog addict is on her way

I’m curious. Had you blogged before and this is the first that’s yours or are you new to blogging?

New — new, new, new, new, new — doesn’t it show?

I had been reading Terrace’s blog for years (still do) and she is essentially responsible for me starting my own blog — the pusher who began my addiction, as she clearly admits! And Doug holds the distinction of being the first stranger to comment on my blog.  I am glad to claim him now as friend.

Also, my first blog was on Blogspot.  The title was, “A Day in The Life,” and I had my template custom made.  It’s still up.  Pop on over and take a look.  Oh how times change!  LOL!

  1. Wow… I only BARELY remember that blog… but I remember some of the POSTS!!! That should count for something! I wasn’t a regular with you yet back then…. Happy Bloggiversary Quilly!

  2. Happy Blogoversary!! I think the template of the old one is cute!

I do actually keep a running list of post ideas — I jot them down to hopefully develop later — for those times I sit down at the computer and raw a blank. Sometimes I draw from that list — sometimes I forget it’s there. Some of the thoughts listed there have been there for a long time without getting any further, but some have developed into blog posts.

I;m glad you’re here on the blogosphere, and may you have many more blogoversaries!

  3. Quilly,
I feel like such a bad blogger–so out of the loop. I guessed bear on tap right away but was waaaaaayyy to late. You host such a fun blog here. Thank you so much for the kind words a few posts back. I felt like I was reading one of those blurbs on the back of a paperback book where one author says nice things about another author. I mean this….You made my day.
By the way, our trip to Hawai’i was wonderful. We were only on the big Island but it was wonderful.

    1. Tom — ah yes, but you aren’t the typical ‘net jetting blogger. You’re here to write, not to visit.

  4. Happy Blggaversary.. May you suffer the addiction for many years to come.

That was a cute template. My old blogspot blog was bought by people who ended up doing nothing with it and now it is a disaster.

      1. That was misleading.
Actually I couldn’t sell it as it didn’t belong to me technically, so when they apporached me with the offer I arranged the donation to “women for women”, and once that occurred and I was notified, they got the blog.

  5. You’ve come a long way baby! I’m flying *high* to support your “habit.”
You make me laugh so hard many times, I snort (and thank goodness, none of you hear me make that sound.) This addiction is a safe one and one I enjoy sharing with you. You know I’m a blog fan of yours.

Happiest of Blogaversaries & best wishes for many more to come! BTW, I also began on blogspot, a few years earlier than you and due to a “pusher”, but I deleted that blog instead of exporting it. I retained its records, though. It is interesting to look back!

Off to see your old blog.

    1. Hey Lynne — welcome back to blogland. I am too “stuck” on myself and cannot bear the thought of deteting a single thing!

  6. Happy anniversary! You know, I do not even know my blogging anniversary date. You have prompted me to go look. I know it has been more than a year. I peeked at your old template and it was very cute! I like to change things up a bit every now and then too. Seems we get bored with the same old thing day in and day out!

  7. I must have found you in the early days of that blog, since I started blogging in April of the same year.

    Happy blogiversary!
