Not Whale Watching
We went to Lime Kiln Point State Park to watch whales.
I guess nobody told the whales though, because they never showed up.
It was a gray, overcast day and the wind was blowing a bit,
but we stayed to walk along the beach and peek in the tide pools.
Where we saw quite a few NOT whales:
This was most certainly a NOT Whale.
Another NOT Whale
An entire congregation of NOT whales:
A high and dry NOT whale:
And a good time was had by all
(except possibly the snail that was being eaten by the Sea Anemone).

Interesting Little Critters, it is amazing all the animals that make up this world. Thank for sharing.

Bill — you’re welcome.
The Little, Teeny Tiny Crab looks amazingly like a spider. 🙂

Cherie — I don’t really see the resemblance, but then I was there to see the crab in person and watch it scuttle sideways.
The whales saw you from far and hid ! that’s the only explanation.
I got a nervous breakdown when I saw your “escargot” (didn’t know that this word is used in English, because it’s the french word for snail) After the thousand snails who had invaded my garden, I can’t look at one anymore !

Gattina — In America we use words from all sorts of languages. In the case of “escargot” we are generally referring to food snails.
No whales, but still you saw some amazing creatures. It looks like you had another great day despite the NOT whales?
Jientje — a day is what one makes of it. We decided to make fun.
WOW! That was a LOT of not whales you got to see! I wonder if our next photo hunt could be for not whales…. hmmm….
You know… NOW I know why they say crabs are related to the spider family. When you shrink them down that small, they really DO look like spiders!

Melli — I still don’t see spider. I’ll keep trying …..
I suspect the whales were a bit crabby that day 😉

Thanks for the giggle, Tony.
Next time you should make sure they invite the whales too! Loved the pictures, and I will be feeling bad for the poor snail for the rest of my day!

Ian — the whales are ALWAYS invited. Sometimes they just don’t show up.
Just realized that I missed Punny Monday! Don’t think I got my reminder, but I might have and just lost it in the fog of how I am at the moment.
I’m sorry you didn’t see any whales, but still it must be lovely to be out on the water and see smaller wonders of the world. I enjoy seeing all the wonders you get to see in your corner of the world.

Raven — I was busy with my company and didn’t send out the Punny Monday emails. As it is, I did Punny Monday itse’f with only seconds to spare.
Does Amoeba know anyone who can tap into that whale radio thingie they have? I used to have a buddy who could call someone to tell him where the whales were…wonder if it’s still in operation.
Love the pics, makes me want to jump on a ferry…oh wait…I have a job…fooey!

Shelly, afterward, I saw a sticker that said where to tune for whale news. I didn’t bother to try and remember though. We head home early Friday morning and I still have all the boxes I picked up from storage to sort and repack. I’m too busy for play now.
Give me the Turkey Vulture anyday.

O-kay, but I really wanted the whales! I went back today and saw some more not whales!
I thought at first glance the crab was a spider too. 🙂
The NOT whales are pretty good finds in themselves.

Hmmm, Charley and I don’t understand the crab/spider thing. Is it a mass hallucination?
Oh my goodness..escargot? You should have got tons of them and had a feast. What tiny little characters these are. Great shots Q. I’ve never heard of a Turkey Vulture…why is it called that? Does it gobble gobble? LOL

I’ve never tried them. Not sure I want to try them by scraping them off a rock on a very people populated beach.
Oh how incredibly frustrating.
But you have got some excellent shots there. Still worth the trip eh?
.-= Thumbelina´s last blog ..The Next Installment =-.
Thumbelina — we weren’t frustrated at all. We knew when we went there was a good chance there’d be no whales. We just had a fun beach outing.
Now I have a much better idea of what a not whale is. It sure has a lot of forms.

Dr. John — NOT whales are like that. Tricksy.
Oh drat! That is somewhat dissapointing seeing the NOT whales. At least you got to see many other sea creatures.

Church Lady, the NOT whales didn’t disappointment us in the least. They were great. It was the whales who disappointed us.
What a fantastic collection of Not-Whales!
There is the BEST picture book in here somewhere, to develop for kids. I’d love to steal it, but your photos are just too good!

Susan — they are the best NOT whales ever, I think! Tell me more about this children’s book. I’ll give you creative consultant credit and a mention in the dedication! 😉
What interesting little critters!
Deb — I thought so!
