Eating Time

Blogging eats time. I need to reclassify some of the time I feed to blogging and call it my writing time. From now on, starting the moment I hit “post” on this blog, I cannot write a blog post or comment on anybody’s site until I have written at least 700 words of my story-in-progress first.

To add insult to what you may be considering your injury, my story-in-progress will not be shared on the blog. I am writing for publication and putting it here makes it less likely to thrill an editor. Sorry. On the plus side, when/if it sells I will be sure to tell you to whom and how you can get it for yourself.

I know that you all want the best for me and understand that if I want my dream of being a published writer to ever be more than a dream, then I have to put in the necessary time and energy. In the meantime, rest assured that I am alive and well and right (write) here at the keyboard.

Oh yeah! (hehe) We’re home from Friday Harbor and we’re safe.

  2. That is very disciplined of you. You inspire me to do better. I am pretty close to finishing something up, but I haven’t worked on it in at least six months. It would be good to have it finished before I leave for school. You understand that now you’ll have people all over the world nagging as to whether you’ve written your 700 words before you came out to play? Or is that just for today? 😉

    1. Cherie — so far today 808 words. Discipline is the only way I am going to get it done. I am espoecially having a heck of a time with the beginning.

  3. Well done on the 808 words? 🙂 Is this fiction or non-fiction? Is it possible to skip the beginning and come back to it later? Beginnings seem to be difficult for most people. (Very much so for me.)

    1. P.S. I don’t know what was with the “?” on the “well done”. LOL Thom can tell you, I’ve been having “issues” with my punctuation the past few days. 😉 Let’s make that “Well done on the 808 words!” 🙂

  4. Fiction — space opera — 808 hard to wrangle words and a structire for the beginning — and I just got another idea I like ever so much better, so I think I’m about to switch and go for another 808 words today! LOL!

    No worries. I need to get on that schedule starting tomorrow. Just not for writing, but working on my shops.
    If I want that 500mm lens (haha, just kidding), I need to sell a whole lot of postcards, grin…..

    Congrats on the correct answer (After five before answered the same) :). Go and wish Dr John Happy thoughts as he was the first to guess correctly.

    I think in future I am going to have to have the answers emailed like you do with your Punny Monday, then I won’t have like a Class Room and everyone stealing from each other 🙂

  7. I understand that. I prefer to read a whole book then every day a little piece of page !
    in any case i cross my fingers and ask my five cats to cross their paws that you book will be published asap !
    Jientje and I will finally meet on thursday in Antwerp, she picks me up at the station. I am not difficult to recognize I am the grand blonde, with or without brain you can’t see from outside. She proposed a pink ombrella, lol !

  8. Good luck with the writing and time management! Absolutely understood on all counts, so I’ll just be happy when I do see you, and wishing you all the writing-best when I don’t. I know I should do the same; if I spent as much time on my novel and stories as on the blogs, I’d be sooooo much more productive.

  11. Well I totally understand becuase I been waiting but AGES for this novel so get on writing it! I wanna read it!
    You gotta put your real life first. Much as I love you and miss ya when you’re not here, as you have seen from my recent blogging (or absence) it is just trying to get the balance right. I’m trying to. And others do a better job of it but at least I’m trying. So are you. 🙂

    Already I see the next post is up and you did 1000 words. See? Easy when you put you’re mind to it….
