Random Dozen #14

random dozen

It’s that time again! Lidna over at 2nd Cup of Coffee has come up with 12 more questions. This is her 14th Dozen. I just love her memes. They make me think!

1. Which Wizard of Oz character are you most like?
The Scarecrow – if I only had a brain!

2. When you’re deciding what you’re going to wear each morning, which item do you select first? Why?
My under clothes – because that’s what I put on first. It could be minutes or hours before I worry about the rest.

3. What kind of animal do you think the world could live without?
Rats!

4. How many Christmas trees are in your home?
Nada. Zip. Zilch. I will string lights on my window, but it has been years since I’ve decorated a dead tree in my living room.

5. Would you prefer to be emotionless if it mean you didn’t have to feel a heartbreak?
No! To know love is to know God.

6. Do you ever experience holiday let-down or depression?
I experience a winter let down – Seasonal Affect Disorder – but it isn’t the holidays per se that causes my depression, it is the removal of sunlight.

7. Do you like Michael Jackson’s music?
Some yes, some no.

8. Why is it that we never judge people who have their teeth fixed for cosmetic reasons, but every other cosmetic procedure has a stigma?
I don’t judge. I don’t ask. It is none of my business either way.

9. Enjoy horseback riding?
Seven times I’ve been on a horse. Seven times I have fallen off. I don’t recall enjoying that, no.

10. Shoes–practical or stylish?
Yes. Depends on where I’m going and what else I’m wearing.

11. What was the name of your first pet? Feel free to post a pic.
Smokey – a Siamese cat. She had her kittens in my bed – and my hair – when I was three.

12. What percentage of your Christmas shopping is done?
Only the stuff for the 12 Days of Christmas, Hawaiian Style contest that Thom & I are team hosting..

  1. I love #9 — sounds like you got a week’s worth of lesson — to not ride anymore! LOL

Loving the 12 Days of Christmas, Hawaiian Style. I hope more people jump on board today!

Linda’s Mr. Linky is up now if you want to go link.

  2. I always love your answer to these, and I always get a few surprises. The kittens, EEEWWWWW….
#6 — me too, and it seems to get worse as I get older.
#8 — that question wouldn’t really apply over here (where Americans are famous for perfect straight white teeth while gah, look at us! LOL)

  3. #6 – I do get a Christmas let down, because over here it seems EVERYBODY goes on vacation in Jan. and we usually don´t, then it´s hard for me. After all the family and friends time, it always seems Jan. is a let down.
I can see myself getting there, that I will not set up a tree. Every year it gets harder to do….

  4. i agree with you on #8. it’s their choice, it’s their body, it’s their money. as for #4, this is the 5th christmas that i’m not decorating. my answer is on #6- holiday breakdown actually.

    have a nice day Quilly!

  5. I struggle with depression in January more so than any other time — less sunlight, all the color of fall and celebration of Christmas is over and the trees are all barren, no color outside. I’m almost depressing myself just talking about it! I try to focus on inside things and hang on til Valentine’s Day — one of my favorite holidays — and then the first blooms in March.

Amen to #5! And I really don’t like rats, either.

  6. I always love your answers! #1 & #2 made me laugh. #5 was perfect. And #6 is a me too!!

I was trying to figure out where today’s riddle was, then remembered, oh yeah! Gotta go to Thom’s! Maybe I should have said the scarecrow as well!! 🙂

  7. Nr 8 is very you 🙂
I guess your Siamese cat really wanted you to participate in her joy delivering the kitties…

  8. Heeeeere we go again – sisters at heart! I’m crackin’ up! When do we hear WHO WON the FIRST day of Christmas? For some reason I thought the winners would be announced daily…. no?

  9. ..
On the second day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
    Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

Yesterday I learned what a partridge was. We have their cousins all over the place. Not that the learning has done me any good yet. I will predicte that the answer today is ‘two turtle doves’ sent by your lover.

    9. Enjoy horseback riding?
Seven times I’ve been on a horse. Seven times I have fallen off. I don’t recall enjoying that, no.

I rode a horse to high school for my first two years. Now I have two horses, a black on and a green one (’98 Mustang GT Convertible and a ’74 Green Mustang II Ghia).

  10. a good one as always.
and i kind of like the questions so i may do this (sans publicity) as well, even though i may look like a copycat at times

  11. We haven’t had a “real” tree in the house for the last 4 years. We’ve got one of those table-top “aluminum” trees, a fad that was born in Wisconsin in the 1950s. I just didn’t see the point in a dead tree anymore, and the girls said if we were going fake, we should go REALLY fake…

  12. I thought about the underwear answer but guess I didn’t have the nerve to put it.
#9 seven times huh, does that mean you have seven lives. Maybe the kittens born in your hair brought you that kind of luck.
