Rosaceous
I found this beauty when going through my Summer photos from Friday Harbor. I opened the photo and it almost took my own breath away. Aren’t these flowers stunning?
Does anyone know their actual name? Amoeba doesn’t and he’s too busy tying up loose ends to research the answer. Â All he knows for certain is that they are in the Rose family.

Gosh, I don’t. If I get a chance, I’ll ask my mother.

Doug — and while you’re asking wish her a Merry Christmas for me!
She doesn’t know either but says “that’s sweet, Merry Christmas”

Wow, it’s hard to imagine a whole bush full of those pretty blossoms. It looks like what my grandmother called a ‘prairie rose’, that had five pink petals like this, though Friday Harbor’s a bit far from any prairie, isn’t it?

Susan — although beautiful in their own way, our Prairie Roses are just a little bit less colorful than this.
Very stunning shot! I really love your photos, Quilly. I’m sorry, I’m no good at flower names. But I love seeing them very much! The school holidays began here in Indonesia today and will last for two weeks. I don’t know how much I’ll be around. Wishing you and Amoeba a wonderful holiday 🙂

Rosidah — thanks. Enjoy your kids. They are only young for a little while.
Those are gorgeous and nice to see when the “bleak midwinter” here has very little color.

I think the botanical name is Prettymus Flowerica..

Linda — the botanist I live with — the punny one we call Amoeba — says, “Ha. No.”
These roses don’t grow in Hawaii. Very pretty!

Kay — i will have to discover their name so I can plant them in my yard in Friday Harbor!
Beautiful…. I’m probably totally wrong.. couldn’t find a color match, but the shape of the petals seems to look like a “wild rose.” Whatever it is, it’s beautiful. Hope you get to have many of them in the garden at your new home.
