Munch Party
This morning when I offered to go to the lab with Amoeba and tell everybody it was his birthday, he said, “No way!” However, he didn’t tell me I couldn’t go into the teacher’s lounge at noon and do so. I arrived at Amoeba’s work place and slipped into the main office just a little before he usually takes his lunch. I had a German Chocolate cake with me which immediately drew the attention of several people who wondered what requirements they had to meet in order to get a piece. I told them that all they needed to do was stick around.
Amoeba took his own sweet time getting to the lunch room. I actually contemplated leaving the cake there with the secretary and going on home, especially since nobody knew where on campus he might be, and he wasn’t answering his cell phone. The secretary told me that Amoeba almost always arrives between 12 and 12:30 for lunch and she convinced me to be patient.
At 12:20 Amoeba arrived. He was quite startled to see me and eyed the cake ruefully, but there was also a spark of appreciation in his eyes. He was Happy Birthday serenaded TWICE. Once by the secretary and I, then again by a couple colleagues in the lunch room. He did not die of embarrassment, in fact I think he rather enjoyed himself.

Surprises are usually something you either love or hate. In this case, the surprise was a good one, so I’m sure Amoeba loved every bit of it and the cake too!
How fun. I guess since there were only a few people around, it didn’t qualify as public humiliation. 😀
Happy Birthday Amoeba!
What fun. I’m glad you felt better today. Happy Birthday to Amoeba!
…so did you reveal his age???
I love German chocolate cake.
Awwww maybe he was out with Dude and Dude ya think?: LOL That was very sweet of you Q. I love that kind of cake. Did you save me a piece? Better yet put it in the mail. Just make sure you wrap it real well and send over night express 🙂 MWAH. HBD Charley 🙂
Lucky he doesn’t work at a high school or they’d never have let you in with all those candles.
What a sweet surprise — in more ways than one.
Yeeeeeeaaaaaaaa…. they DO enjoy our attentive measures! EVEN when they don’t WANT to! That was sweet!
a sweet surprise indeed and no sweat, i hope 😉
Amoeba thanks everyone for their birthday wishes. He is so busy this weekend and has been pulled in so many directions, he has no time to reply.
That’s really nice! I’m sure he loved his birthday celebration.
Lovely surprise! The German chocolate cake brings up sweet memories. Happy Birthday again, Amoeba.
