Connecting With God
LOL With God, by Pam Ferrell and Dawn Wilson is the perfect devotional for today’s busy women.  Every daily devotion starts with a text message from God (Bible Verse written in text form: Prz t Lord, O my sol.*) has a verbal illustration, suggested verses for further enlightenment, then ends with an LOL. The LOLs are jokes that illustrate or somehow punctuate the message of the brief, yet thought provoking devotional message.
I was scheduled to provide the devotional for our Mary-Martha Circle at church last week. Generally these devotions are very serious and solemn affairs and after one is read, everybody says “Amen” and we move on to the business meeting. As I shared the devotional the ladies chuckled and rolled with laughter — and after it was over they related to each other instances in their lives where God had touched them in a like manner. They didn’t just move on to the next thing, they actually interacted with the message, which is the purpose of a good devotional, is it not?
LOL With God, reminds us that God wants to share our good times as well as our bad. We are made in his image and he is the author of our joy. We should rejoice in him, but more than that, we should rejoice with him!
About the Book:
Feeling tired, stressed or disconnected with God? In this devotional, authors Pam Farrel and Dawn Wilson, provide real-life stories mixed with a splash of humor and an encouraging word from God to help women get through often hectic days. Joy from God, unlike the fleeting happiness of the world, transforms the soul and helps to heal frazzled, broken women. A cheerful heart is still good medicine (Proverbs 17:22), and women need it in mega-doses! There will always be a need for humor to cheer our hearts, and when that humor is paired with powerful truth principles from Scripture, women will be revived and refreshed. To make it fun, the authors have taken Scripture verses and made them into text messages similar to those you might see on your cell phone.
