Toe-tally Sore!
My toe hurts. Big surprise since I had the toenail pried off of it yesterday. Because the doctor knew my toe would hurt she gave me a prescription for Vicodin. Nice stuff. My toe still hurts, but I don’t really care.
However, why would the doctor tell me to stay off my feet as much as possible the first day, and prescirbe me Vicodin? You see, one of the side-effects of Vicodin is an incredible thirst. The stuff literally sucks the moisture from my mouth, so I pour more in.
I am certain you’re aware of the most immediate side-effect of drinking pints of water every hour — I have to go to the bathroom. That, of course, means I have to get up and move. A lot. Like now.

Golly Moses! I’m so sorry about that. So, this is you hopped up on Vicodin, eh? Incredibly coherent, I must say. Hope things are improved tomorrow. š
Cherie — down to 2 ibuprophen only when needed — like just before bandage changes and bed.
Oh dear! Oh dear! I’m so sorry, Quilly. I’ve been prescribed Vicodin several times and you know I still haven’t taken it at home. The doctor gave it to me at the clinic when I broke my foot, but I didn’t take it after that because I thought it might be too strong. I think I was watching too much House (the TV show). He was addicted to Vicodin. I remember the doctor saying you have to stay ahead of the pain to manage it.
Kay — I actually went a few hours today without any pain medication — as long as I am not up and moving about.
Wiggling your toys may seem like a small, silly and inconsequential task; however, never underestimate the power of a good toe tension release.
Hope You Feel Well soon š
Zingtrail — I have been wiggling my toe plenty. It still hurts.
Ouch. I’ve had one toenail and one fingernail removed due to injuries back when I was a kid — I remember it hurting, but it seems like it would hurt even more now, or maybe be harder to deal with now. Makes me almost shudder to think of it. Hope you heal well and feel better soon and are able to rest — in between trips to the restroom.
Barbara — I remember it being less traumatic last time I had it done. I think I have grown more wary and respectful of pain as I age.
Sorry to hear you had to have the toe nail removed. I haven’t had to have that done, but know a few who have…OUCH! Glad the Vicoden is managing the pain, though, and glad you can laugh about the side affects. LOL š
Stacy — it’s laugh or cry.
Yeah, I pretty much stay away from any medication stronger than Aleve. I get “high” off cold medicine so I suspect Vicodin would completely knock me out.
SN — well, it has certainly helped me sleep!
Ugh, I hate Vicodin. Makes me dizzy. The doctor gave that to me yesterday to combat the soreness from my Thursday wreck and I decided I’d rather ache. Although the muscle relaxant at bedtime was good stuff. Feel better soon.
Linda — Thursday wreck? I guess I missed something!
Terrible! Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Hope you feel better soon!
Gigi — I’m getting there, thanks!
Bed pan?
ROTFL š
Doug — No!
Karen — I have asked you not to encourage him!
I feel your pain! On all sorts of levels!
Beth — sorry. I knew the empaths would have trouble with this post.
Percocet does the same thing – doesn’t take the pain away, but makes you so stupid you really don’t care. Useless, actually…
Ugh, I felt the pain in my own toe when you mentioned why it was sore. I can’t even bring myself to repeat it.
Heal quickly!!!
Jenn — I am working on it!
ROTFL you are posting while on pain meds! š
I have a toenail that looks like it is going to come off. I am now very nervous (you said the P word). Vicodin is nice when you are truly in pain (been there a few times — sweet relief!) but maybe you should take up Doug’s suggestion? š
Karen — I am commenting while on pain meds, too — albeit milder ones.
Ah there you have the contradiction – take the meds and be up on your foot! Hope the toe gets better soon. x
Hope your toe heals quickly. I don’t like vicodin, wuen I sleep it gives me weird surreal nightmares.
