The Virus That Keeps on Giving
I am mostly well. I think. I still have the hacking cough and the wheezing, I sound like a frog when I talk, fall asleep without warning, and I am visited by a horrid headache every afternoon, and now my lymph nodes have swollen! I look like a hamster with a grapefruit in my cheek. No, I will not share photos!
Amoeba, on the other hand, got sick, slept for 48 hours, and then went on with his life. He still has a bit of a cough, but he doesn’t have frog throat, or any wheezing. He did say he took an unplanned nap at work today and he had a bit of a headache this afternoon, but mostly he has returned to life as it was pre-virus.
I was going to demand equal treatment of the sexes, but it dawned on me that rather than my suddenly getting well, Amoeba would likely get sicker. I guess that means I will stop whining and go back to my heat pad and my novel.

that’s always what happens whenever there’s a cold in this house… Archie generally brings it home from work, is sick about 24 hours then bounces back.. I, on the other hand, lanquish in virus misery for over a week or more…
What you say is true. Darn the fates that are! Well, eat some chicken soup and drink lots of tea (if for no other reason then that they are soothing on the throat). Glad Charlie is doing better. Wish you were too.
Something is going around. Somebody told me they had the flu shot and caught a virulent flu anyway that knocked her down for a week with 104 degree fever. I sure hope you get better soon! Take care. Chicken soup is always good.
That sounds like a really bad virus. Hope it leaves you soon!
What we are having down here is a lot of Dengue cases. Since it´s been raining so much, there are a ton of mosquito’s and these little buggers spread the Dengue sickness. My daughter says the hospital is filled with “could be” cases. Lots of work for her!
Wishing you better Quilly. x
Hoping it goes away soon. You know what happened to my daughter’s viola teacher who couldn’t shake hers.
My husband was singing the spoof of the Oak Ridge Boys’ Elvira the other day. I’ll be happy to get it on your brain:
Flu virus, flu virus,
My head’s on fire
With flu virus!
(I’m sure you could substitute whatever body part you wish in the second line!)
You’re welcome.
Yep, you just need to let it take its’ course. Rest and fluids. That’s about all you can do. We had a prayer vigil here at church yesterday, and I did alot of praying for my health and for the well being of others. Sending healing thoughts your way….
Aw — so sorry! Glad Amoeba felt better so quickly. Hope you’re feeling much better soon!
I am almost over my cold, which lasted 2-1/2 weeks. Just have a slight cough now and then. Best of all, I get to sleep in my bed in the bedroom instead of the sofa in the family room.
So, you, too, will get better.
You and I must have the same virus even though we live 2,000 miles apart. I still have the residual cough, wheeze, headache, drippy nose…a full week after the full blown version.
The timing is a real problem for me now. Today we’re loading the motorhome and tomorrow leaving on a two month trip, stopping at my mom’s for a couple of days before truly hitting the road.
It’s hard to imagine that I’m going to remember to load everything, feeling like this. Thank goodness Rich takes care of all the important stuff, like making sure all is well with the motorhome and it’s road ready.
